  • Robert S. Robbins - Far Out IdeasI find it useful to follow the interests of the psychedelic undergound but I usually come to my own conclusions. For example, this book may encourage me to explore quantum physics, the Maya culture, and the Hopi Indians but I'm sure to have a different perspective on these subjects.

Pinchbeck's work seems intellectually derivative. He is a scholar rather than an original thinker. He can always cite an authority for every concept he puts forward. I don't think the psyche is well understood so I'd like to see better concepts developed to explain what is observed. Since Pinchbeck travels around and does a lot of experimentation he should have a wealth of personal observations from which to derive new theories.

For example, I don't know why the concept that consciousness is evolving is so popular. There is no evidence for this and it seems counter-intuitive. I think this idea originated in Julian Jayne's book on the Bicarmeral Mind and the arguments are unconvincing.

Now that I think about it, I suppose Daniel has developed some new ideas on prophecy, a subject nobody else is going to touch upon. I kind of filtered that out as I was reading.
  • R. J. Carpenter - Is the Past Worth Remembering?Want to read a story with evil stepmothers, power-hungry corporate executives out to make money however they can, and families that need re-united? KISS might just fit the bill.

Its main character, Shauna McAllister, is dealing with issues of abandonment by her father, who is currently running for president. She makes plans to confront him, not about their past but about his future, and ends up being in a car accident, in a coma for six weeks, and unable to remember the last six months of her life.

Shauna can't defend herself against accusations that she caused the accident, an accident that left her beloved brother brain-damaged. She doesn't think she was a drug user, but with no memory, how is she to combat the charges that Ecstasy was the reason for the accident, especially since some was found both in her home and in her car? You'd think her long-time boyfriend would be some help, but that's not exactly the case.

And her father? Shauna's father is the owner of a major pharmaceutical company, and it appears that her recovery is due to his enrolling her in a drug trial. That's where his support ends, and it isn't long before she discovers that the drugs that are supposed to help her regain her memory are really no help at all. In her search to prove her innocence, Shauna discovers a lot about herself and the people who surround her.

This book is one of those that you can't put down. Shauna has had many obstacles to overcome. When her mother died giving birth to her brother, her father embraced the baby, his son, not the daughter he already had. When he remarried, his wife was abusive toward Shauna, and when she told her father, he took his wife's side, not his daughter's. Surely she didn't need to add memory loss to her list!

Shauna's estrangement from her father has caused her to be estranged from other people and from God. KISS is the story of her journey back to fellowship both with God and with her father. It's a story well worth reading.
  • Jennifer - Great PriceWe had to purchase Quickbooks 2013 because intuit would not support our payroll anymore if we did not. When I went to buy from INTUIT the cost was $649.00 Amazon had the exact same for $379.00 I called INTUIT to tell them how much cheaper it was on Amazon.com and they said wait, I will talk to my supervisor and see what we can do! They came down to $599. They also said that sometime you get a knockoff that is not the real thing!!!! Can you imagine?

Needless to say, we purchased from Amazon and we are extremely happy with the product.
  • K. L. Woomer - The right balance of pain and artThis cd, with its songs of pain like MOTHER and ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL and RUN LIKE HELL are full of pain and alienation. Yet the art of it, the wonderful guitar playing of DG, the music held its own and made this cd a very much loved classic. The balance between art and pain is kept within the lines of the canvas and the listener can relate... the lines get blurred later on with the release of THE FINAL CUT and solo R. Waters works like Pro's and Con's... but here in 1979 they were perfect.
  • M. Wastrodowski "sunflower man" - Not for everyone. That means you asians. As a long time white person, my people have enjoyed milk for centuries. I remember when uncle Ungh! first cut open a cow and discovered milk. As the story goes, everyone made fun of him when he got home because they thought he'd been eating white cave paint. He killed someone so they shut up. I highly recommend this product, but only if you aren't asian.
