- Kevinsp131 - Can't say how much I like the new styleFirst tried out Windows 8 with the consumer preview and wasn't sure what to expect considering all the complaints I was hearing about the start button going away. I am running a dual monitor system that I use Photoshop and Lightroom along with other photo software and your normal web browsing. All I can say is how impressed I was at how fast the system worked. In less than a day I felt very comfortable using the system. I will admit that it is nice to have the dual monitors as I can have my desktop on one and the start screen on the other. That said, both my son and daughter have purchased the upgrade for their laptops and I haven't found it to be a deal breaker compared to my desktop. In fact both have been very happy with the system and have stated that they wouldn't go back to Win7. I purchased the product from Microsoft online as a download because it was cheaper and I felt it was easy enough to make my own install disk. One thing that I will note is that I did have some trouble with the install because of my Asus motherboard USB 3.0 driver not installing correctly. I did a bit of research and installed some drivers from the USB companies website that solved the problem. I also had to disable the ATI graphic GPU control in Photoshop because it causes Photoshop's background to flicker. This is a driver problem and ATI is working on a update to the driver. This isn't a big deal to me as I work with photos and don't really even need the power of the GPU for Photoshop. On the laptops Win8 has made them both feel a little bit quicker and the startup time on my desktop blows Win7 away. Anyway, if you don't mind trying something new this is a great operating system.
